# Son Operation # Son Town The Son Bridge is the first of the key bridges that you need to secure. This will be the most difficult bridge to take and hold, because it is easy to defend and is vulnerable to a counterattack. Do your best. You must try to secure the bridge on the first day so that it is clear when XXX Corps arrives. First you need to clear the town of Son so that you can advance to the bridge. If you are unable to clear the town on your first attempt, the element of surprise will be lost and the Germans can prepare to blow the Son bridge. The RAF and partisans report several large-caliber antiaircraft and antitank guns in the area. Mortars work well against these. # Son Bridge Take the bridge before the Germans blow it or suffer a massive delay. Then hold the bridge against all counter- attacks so the road will remain open for XXX Corps and its supply train. Try to suppress the antiaircraft guns. Make a focused attack on one area to make it across the kill zone and into the German-held buildings. It can be done. It must be done. Should you be repulsed in the attack, you must launch another attack as soon as possible to take the bridge. The Germans won't leave it while it is still intact so there is no need to retreat back to Son Town. # Son South Expect a German counterattack here. Even armor is not out of the question. Do not allow a German force to become established here. Make good use of the ditches and scattered buildings.
