After the devastation on Earth in the late 2030's, which resulted in the expanded
settling of the planet Centauri in the Alpha Centauri system, the various
nationalities that were represented on Centauri lived in peace for a time. But
near the turn of the 24th Century, it was apparent that conflict was again going
to reign on human habitation.  In the early 2300's, new technology developed on
Centauri, enabled humanity to reach out to the stars through teleportation.  All 
that was required was for suitable star systems and planets to be located.  The 
technology did not allow for anything metallic, ceramic or composite to be
teleported.  This resulted in a one way trip for living humans.  As tensions rose on 
Centauri, more and more experimental trips were made.  Of course, nothing was ever
heard of the travelers again.  One of the most promising planetary systems contained 
a lush planet that appeared to be a veritable paradise.  The planet became known 
as Paradise.  All of the cultures except the French teleported many colonists there.
The Germans, it turns out, had discovered Paradise from Earth and got the last
colony ship off before the earth was destroyed.  As a result of the last minute
nature of this German colony ship, no equipment to speak of was transported, only
people.  The Germans arrived near the same time as the Centauri teleporters.  This
is their story.

The Americans are the intended human player and have 1 city and Literacy.
